We and all creation are the works of God’s hands, therefore God is excellent and whatever He decides to create has been approved by Him for its particular purpose. There are times in the Bible where God presents Himself as a potter because He takes that which was not and turns it into that which is.

God creates the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:2-3 KJV

God creates man.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 KJV

God creates things unimaginable.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV

God is represented as the potter and the pottery to us as humans, if the pottery becomes broken God is the one who fixes it, this represents God fixing us to bring restoration into our lives.

18 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. Jeremiah 18:1-6 KJV

God gives us stern but loving instructions on how to be obedient to Him so we can accomplish the work set out for us to do in the will for our lives.

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
