The Bible makes us very aware that not everyone is who they actually say they are or present themselves to be.

Jesus spoke repeatedly of these things and would not want us ignorant to the realities of evil trying to corrupt the church as He stated in the following scripture:

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:15 KJV

Many of these people hook you in with something in particular perhaps their lifestyle, their looks or appearance or the tickling of the ears, this meaning telling one what they want to hear.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV

These leaders may also rarely if not ever warn people of the dangers of hell from not receiving salvation from God through Christ Jesus.

The heart posture of a false leader may be of self gain and selfishness which can lead onto them wanting finances for self ambition or perhaps they may want fame which is in fact them trying to glorify themselves and are not in ministry with the intention to glorify God.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4 NIV

The members of the church must be vigilant and seeking God in all things to ensure we are being led by true leaders and if suspicions arise we must seek God. Amen.
