Strong foundations are vital for stability in Christ Jesus, during our Christian walk there are ups and downs and occasions of turmoil in our lives, Jesus tells us in the scriptures that we must have stability in our lives and the only way to gain that is through having a stable foundation which is Christ Jesus himself.

Jesus describes himself as the immovable rock that we should build our houses on, the house is a reference to our lives which includes our Christian walk.

These following verses give us understanding of how we should build up our lives in Christ Jesus.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:24-27 KJV

The house built on sand will not be stable because sand itself is a very loose material and cannot hold anything with significant structure in place, if the waves of life come and they are very strong then sand which holds things in place loosely and temporarily will make the structure to sway and eventually fall to destruction.

The sand is comparable to the world which offers us the earthly things to build our lives on such as careers, money and materialistic goods, although these things themselves may not be bad, deciding to build and base our earthly existence entirely on the accumulation of them is what Christ Jesus does not recommend as they are worldly and will not be able to sustain our spiritual lives and we will be lacking a close connection to him if these things are of top priority in our lives.

If we don’t build our lives on the strong foundation of Christ Jesus then our whole being including the mind, body, soul and spirit will not be able to cope with the troubles we face in this life.

It is best for us to seek The Lord and repent of our sins, He is here to guide us on the straight and narrow path to The Heavenly Father and He will be the strong foundation for us as we live our lives here on earth.
